Z4M Asphalt Scalpel

Tuesday, Oct 01, 2013

Some of you may remember a different Z4MI posted a few weeks ago, which tiptoed a thin line between track tool and street mule. The pictured Z4M takes the track treatment to the next level, with a big dose of precision.

A protruding carbon fiber front lip is complemented at the rear by this soaring wing. When asked how often he brings the car to NYC, the owner just shook his head. Judging by the unmarred finish on that front lip, this was its first time in the city.

Inside the car, the first thing I noticed were the Porsche GT3 RS seats. In most cases it would seem weird to put seats from another manufacturer into your car, but something about a little bit of Stuttgart in Munich just feels right. Extremely comfortable, too.

Behind the drivers seat the owner had some custom work done in the form of removing a large bulkhead and replacing it with a bright green half cage (scaffolding), for additional rigidity. The foam stuff is to give a small bit of sound deadening when not on track, and also the lightweight battery tucked in there.

The SuperSprint exhaust system sounds phenomenal when paired with BMW’s already raspy S54 motor. Check out the video below to hear this animal howl!
