European Rally – Track Axis – September 13-16

Once a year, Classic Car Club Manhattan goes on an epic rally through Europe. We’ve powered through the UK, The Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Belgum, France, Italy and Austria, but when it comes to driving, nothing quite compares to Germany……so we’re going back.

Tap a fellow member that’s been on a prior CCC European Rally To Hell, and they’ll tell you quite a bit with a look, but not much otherwise. It’s not because rallyists are sworn to secrecy, or some clandestine brotherhood – it’s because few words can properly describe four days unleashed and at the limit.

In the past, we’ve packed 2,000 miles across multiple countries into a mere four days, but this year, we’re sticking to the automotive motherlands of Germany and Belgium, and you’ll put those miles down on the Autobahn and the two undisputed greatest tracks in the world – Germany’s Nurburgring and Spa-Francorchamps of Belgium.

Simply get yourself to Frankfurt on the moring of Monday, September 13th. From there, we’ll cover the rest. You’ll beat down the Autobahn, you’ll drive Spa for a day, you’ll drive Nurburgring for a day and you’ll get your Uber Oktoerfest in as well. We will return to the States on Thursday, September 16th. $4,250 per person, spaces are limited so reserve your spot with Michael today.

Spyker C8 Aileron

IMG_0683.JPG

It was a week of Spyker at the Classic Car Club; Tuesday we were at the track putting the all new C8 Aileron through the paces along with the C8 Spyder and Laviolette, Thursday it was the northeast launch party for the Aileron at the Classic Car Club and Friday we had all three models on hand for member test drives. So… how does it drive?

“I was really surprised and impressed…. I knew the Spyker to be a unique hand-crafted machine… really an exercise of design, but I didn’t go in expecting much of the drive. I imagined a cushy ride for guys who own a car like this to be seen in it rather than drive, however, I was very wrong! The Spyder and Laviolette are hard and fast street going race cars, there is nothing cushy about them, not even power steering or power brakes! They have a nasty bark of an exhaust note, relentless acceleration and with no traction control and a damp track, I really had to be delicate to keep the back end from coming around. On the North Course of Monticello, it was clear that underneath their pretty skin, these are purposeful machines. The Aileron has been softened a bit (they say to appeal to the US market) and is a bit more of a grand tourer, with amenities and electrical nannies that you’d expect in a couture supercar, but still a formidable performer.” – Zac Moseley
